Editing & Measuring

Raw scans are not always perfect; with the editing tools you can make your models ready for sharing and printing in minutes.

Cropping

Crop floors, walls or unwanted objects left outside the scan area:

1. Open the model and select the Crop tool.
2. Move the camera to the region you want to remove.
3. Mark the region with the lasso or align the cutting plane in plane mode.
4. Confirm; cropping can be undone.

Cleaning

After cropping, remove small floating pieces and noise:

• Noise filter: Reduces surface jitter.
• Small part cleanup: Automatically removes disconnected pieces below a certain volume.
• Isolated point brush: Lets you clean localized areas one by one.

Hole Filling and Repair

For 3D printing, the model must be watertight:

1. Open the Repair panel.
2. Run automatic repair; ScanCraft detects holes and inverted faces.
3. Preview the result; if needed, close large holes manually.
4. Save the repair report.

Smoothing and Enhancement

• Smoothing: Gives organic surfaces a natural look. Do not overdo it; detail can be lost.
• Decimation: Lightens the model; ideal for mobile AR and web viewers.
• Texture enhancement: Brightness and saturation adjustments.

Measurement Tools

You can take realistic measurements on the model:

• Length: Distance between two points.
• Height: Vertical distance from the floor plane to the selected point.
• Area: Surface area of a closed region.

You can leave measurements as persistent markers on the model and include them in the report when exporting. Remember that measurements depend on the real scale of the scan; use an object of known length as a reference for scale correction.

Undo and Versions

Every editing step is saved automatically. From the History panel you can return to any step and experiment with confidence.
